
Michael E. Snyder, M.D. specializes in diseases and surgery of the front of the eye, including small-incision, topical anesthesia cataract surgery, corneal transplant, with special interest in traumatic cataract surgery, iris repair, and artificial iris prosthesis placement, corneal transplantation, and refractive surgery.
He completed both his undergraduate degree in Psychology and his Medical Degree from University of Michigan, followed by his Internship in Internal Medicine and General Surgery at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center of Denver, Colorado. Dr. Snyder served as Resident and Chief Resident in Ophthalmology at Krieger Eye Institute of Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. He then pursued subspecialty training in cataract, anterior segment & refractive surgery, corneal & external diseases, and ocular immunology at New England Eye Center and Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston. Following his Fellowship, Dr. Snyder cultivated a referral practice in cataract and corneal surgery in Albany, New York where he also taught Residents as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Albany Medical College.
At Cincinnati Eye Institute (CEI), Dr. Snyder continues to couple his clinical activities with an active interest in both teaching and research. He has given lectures to a variety of Ophthalmic groups at local, national and international meetings. He continues to contribute to Ophthalmology textbooks and scientific journals. Additionally, Dr. Snyder has authored and co-authored several Ophthalmology journal articles, textbooks, and award-winning surgical videos.
Dr. Snyder is actively involved in developing new devices for intraocular implantation and new ophthalmic applications for pharmaceuticals. He is an investigator for several different new ophthalmic implants and devices.
Dr. Snyder is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He sits on the Board of Directors of the American College of Eye Surgeons and the editorial board of the Review of Refractive Surgery. He is also a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the Ocular Microbiology and Immunology Group, and the Galen’s Medical Society. He serves on the medical staff of Bethesda North Hospital and Middletown Regional Hospital in Ohio and St. Luke's and St. Elizabeth's Hospitals in Northern Kentucky. His peers have elected him to Best Doctors in America.
